Bowel cancer is the 4th most common cancer in the UK.

There are around 42 900 new bowel cancer cases in the UK every year, that’s nearly 120 every day.

Common symptoms are:

  • A change in bowel habit which persists beyond three weeks with a tendency to looser, runnier stool
  • Blood in the stool
  • Abdominal pain, discomfort or bloating brought on by eating
  • Unexplained weight loss
  • Unexplained fatigue and tiredness

It is important to say not everyone experiencing these symptoms will be diagnosed with bowel cancer, however you should be checked as soon as possible for a healthcare professional.

To listen to patients speaking about their symptoms and subsequent diagnosis, below are a couple of podcast episodes available. This reflects different symptoms and also you are never too young to potentially receive the diagnosis.
