Solent Sexual Health Clinic

The main functions of a sexual health clinic, or genitourinary medicine clinic (GUM), are to provide specialised sexual health services to people of all ages. This can include sexual health testing, provision of free contraception, psychosexual counselling, HIV testing, treatment and care to name but a few.

HIV Testing

Southampton has a high and increasing rate of STIs with low uptake of testing. In addition to a high percentage of people being diagnosed late with HIV.

The image used is from the TV series 'It's A Sin' following the lives of a friendship group during the HIV/ AIDS crisis in the UK between 1981-1991.

SPCL are committed to supporting the aim of zero new transmissions of HIV by 2030 as detailed by the Department of Health and Social Care in their national HIV action plan.

We will be offered HIV testing to patients during their counselling appointments prior to the fitting of LARC in addition to opportune moments when seeing one of our clinicians.
